Early last November, with speculation running rampant that Kentucky coach Rich Brooks would be fired, athletic director Mitch Barnhart made a bold decision. Barnhart could have taken the easy-out approach and cut loose Brooks, who to that point in his nearly three-year career had been able to muster only an 8-23 record, 3-18 in the Southeastern Conference. But Barnhart took the road far less traveled in today's quick-fix world of college athletics. With three games to go in the season, Barnhart announced Brooks would return in 2006, and without any conditions -- all of his assistants were welcome back, too.
