Talk about a rough landing.

Notre Dame officially became eligible for BCS selection with its ninth win on Saturday night, but the punctuation on the Irish's season was more like a question mark than an exclamation point.

After the close call against Stanford, some people will ask whether Notre Dame deserves a BCS berth over teams with similar records and rankings that closed more emphatically. There are also the arguments that Notre Dame's schedule doesn't stack up with other top teams and that the Irish have by far the worst loss this season (Michigan State) among at-large contenders.
