'Ornery' Weis keeps Irish focused
A look at the non-BCS schools
Throughout the season Weis has used the word ornery -- defined by Webster's dictionary as "having an irritable disposition" -- to describe his mood. Though Weis stuck to tradition and credited the Bills (Parcells and Belichick) for teaching him the approach, his choice of language is novel. And with the success Notre Dame is having, coaches everywhere are bound to start imitating him.
Last week Weis' orneriness (is that a word?) mushroomed as the Fighting Irish prepared to face a Navy team they had beaten 41 consecutive times. The game was peachy compared to practices with Weis, and Notre Dame responded in a 42-21 win.
