The 6-0, 230-pound freshman put in his second consecutive sensational effort, finishing with 179 yards against Florida State after rushing for 248 yards against Southern Mississippi the week before. Brown, named the Division I-A offensive player of the week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation, got North Carolina State off to a rousing start during its 20-15 upset of the Seminoles with a 65-yard touchdown run 17 seconds into the game.
Besides that TD gallop, Brown also had runs of 49 and 20 yards and had a 60-yarder nullified by a penalty.
