The magnitude of Saturday night's Texas Tech-Oklahoma matchup was ratcheted up following Tech's 56-20 rout of Oklahoma State. Since then, most of the pregame hype has been driven by one simple question: Can the Sooners slow down QB Graham Harrell and the Red Raiders' offense?

And unless I'm doing my listening, watching and reading in all the wrong places, the answer from most pundits and non-biased college football fans is "Not a chance." That places me in the minority, because I think Oklahoma can slow down Texas Tech.

Yes, I know the Sooners are depleted on defense. They began the season having to replace five starters from a year ago, including Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year Curtis Lofton. Since then Oklahoma has also lost two key starters -- MLB Ryan Reynolds and DE Auston English -- to knee injuries.
