David Ball, WR, New Hampshire
National college football news does not frequently come out of Durham, N.H., but Ball's recent achievements deserve recognition. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound senior notched three touchdown receptions in the first half of New Hampshire's 56-14 win over Dartmouth. The third touchdown catch improved his career total to 50, tying Jerry Rice's Division I-AA mark. Ball can eclipse the record Saturday night when New Hampshire plays at Delaware. It also should be noted that Ball is a late-round NFL prospect in the 2007 class and his quarterback, junior Ricky Santos, should be an even higher draft pick in 2008. No wonder why the Wildcats are the top-ranked team in I-AA.

The Bulldogs' offense sputtered for three quarters with freshman Matt Stafford at the helm before head coach Mark Richt called for Cox out of the bullpen. The redshirt freshman provided an immediate spark off the bench and led Georgia on its only two scoring drives of the game, erasing a 13-point deficit against winless Colorado. He found tight end Martrez Milner -- a former high school teammate -- for the 20-yard, game-winning strike. Cox is now a proven commodity in relief, but the starting job comes with a whole new set of challenges. Saturday's game at Ole Miss should be a tune-up, but the real test comes in two weeks when Tennessee rolls into Athens for an SEC East showdown.
