USC at Notre Dame

A banged-up USC defense heads to Notre Dame in Week 7 looking to contain a wide-open Irish offense.

USC offense vs. Notre Dame defense
The Trojans should have a difficult time establishing the downhill running game out of their two-back sets. Notre Dame NT Louis Nix, who weighs 326 pounds, is tough to move off the ball in three-man fronts, and defensive coordinator Bob Diaco also will slide 300-pound DE Kapron Lewis-Moore inside next to Nix in four-man fronts. That duo will make it tough for USC to get bodies on Irish ILBs Manti Te'o and Dan Fox, both of whom are strong enough to hold their own in a phone booth with Trojans H-back Rhett Ellison. The Trojans also could be without 230-pound RB Marc Tyler (shoulder), and backups Curtis McNeal and D.J. Morgan are undersized and lack the ability to push the pile or consistently pick up yards after contact.
