Auburn at South Carolina

Auburn's struggling defense faces an explosive South Carolina offense in Week 5.

Auburn offense vs. South Carolina offense
Look for Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn to overload the right side of the formation with as many as five offensive linemen -- and mix in some Wildcat formations -- in order to allow double-team blocking of defensive linemen to that side. South Carolina's front four is quick and disruptive but lacks space-eaters who can anchor against double teams, so the Gamecocks will have to win with penetration and beat blockers to the spot. Tigers RB Michael Dyer will make life difficult for the South Carolina linebackers as well. Dyer shows patience and above-average vision, and he has the lateral agility to make defenders pay when they try to run around blocks. South Carolina must also be sound in terms of tackling because Dyer is a determined runner with above-average balance and lower-body strength to run through sloppy tackles.
