LSU at Auburn

Dual-threat QB Cameron Newton and Auburn host fellow unbeaten LSU in Week 8.

LSU offense vs. Auburn defense
• Auburn's stingy run defense is led by a solid nucleus up the middle. DTs Nick Fairley and Zach Clayton are stout up front and MLB Josh Bynes has come into his own as a senior, but film of last week's win over Arkansas reveals some chinks in the armor on the perimeter. DE Nosa Eguae has struggled to set the edge and S Zac Etheridge continues to take poor angles. While the linebackers are physical on inside runs, they are overaggressive at times, failing to maintain proper position against misdirection runs, and they have had issues with angles in pursuit. LSU offensive coordinator Gary Crowton has his hands on this film, as well, so don't be surprised to see plenty of misdirection runs and passes to RB Stevan Ridley out of the backfield on early downs. Crowton will also likely utilize the athleticism of QB Jordan Jefferson with simple zone-read plays that attack the perimeter.
