• Lack of consistency from QB Kevin Prince prompted Bruins coach Rick Neuheisel to have an open quarterback competition during the Bruins' bye week between Prince and sophomore Richard Brehaut. Prince is a pocket passer who has had footwork problems when passing out of the pistol formation Neuheisel and offensive coordinator Norm Chow are using this season, and that has led to problems with accuracy and poor decision making. Prince is questionable because of a knee injury and there is no indication as to who the starter will be this week, but whoever plays has to produce because the Bruins rank near the bottom of the FBS in passing offense and Oregon is sure to load the box against the run.
