Arkansas at Auburn
A pair of impressive quarterbacks will take the field when Arkansas travels to Auburn in Week 7.
Arkansas offense vs. Auburn defense
• QB Ryan Mallett is supremely talented but an underrated receiving corps also plays a part in his success. WRs Greg Childs, Joe Adams and Jarius Wright can stretch the field, and Childs is the most complete of the three with size, soft hands and a blend of strength and elusiveness after the catch. Throw in savvy pass-catching TE D.J. Williams and the Auburn back seven could be in trouble. The Tigers have been shaky in coverage and film study shows they are suspect down the middle. Safeties Zac Etheridge and Aairon Savage have been a second late recognizing plays and are taking poor angles in coverage. Expect defensive coordinator Ted Roof to try to limit big plays by employing plenty of Tampa 2 looks, which will allow him to provide safety help outside the hashes and drop MLB Josh Bynes into a deep zone down the middle. Mallet is nearly 6-foot-7 and armed with a cannon and he excels at driving the ball down the field. However, he will have his patience tested this week and must do a good job of taking what Roof gives him, even if that means consistently settling for underneath options.
