Alabama at South Carolina
Alabama goes on the road to South Carolina in Week 6 and faces a top-20 opponent for the third week in a row.
• RBs Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson face a South Carolina run defense that was exposed by Auburn two weeks ago. DT Ladi Ajiboye couldn't hold his ground against double teams, and DT Travian Robertson made it too easy for the Tigers' interior offensive linemen to turn him outside. That's concerning because Alabama's interior is generating good initial surge. South Carolina's linebackers took too long to get off blocks and allowed Auburn's runners to hit the second level at full speed. Crimson Tide C William Vlachos is doing a good job of waiting for his guards to get into position before releasing up to the second level on double teams, and Alabama can pull guards and use them as lead blockers. South Carolina took inconsistent pursuit angles against Auburn. Ingram and Richardson are power runners, but the Gamecocks cannot underestimate their speed because both are fast enough to rip off long runs when defenders are caught out of position. South Carolina has to clean things up to prevent a big day from Alabama's strong 1-2 punch.
