Stanford at USC

Stanford offense vs. USC defense
• USC DEs Everson Griffen and Nick Perry have combined for 17 sacks through nine games. Perry is an undersized speedster who plays mostly on passing downs, and while Griffen doesn't possess the same initial burst, he does flash good anticipation of the snap and an array of power moves to get to the quarterback. Keeping young QB Andrew Luck protected in the pocket is a high priority for Stanford, so expect the Cardinal to sacrifice route-runners in order to help OTs Jonathan Martin and Chris Marinelli on the perimeter. If Stanford is forced to consistently keep six or more blockers in to protect Luck, it will place a great deal of pressure on WRs Chris Owusu and Ryan Whalen to separate from coverage quickly.
