Southern Miss offense vs. Houston defense

• There are a variety of reasons for Southern Miss to attack Houston's perimeter run defense. First, RB Damion Fletcher (5-foot-10, 177 pounds) and backup Tory Harrison (6-1, 188) have the burst to turn the corner and are tougher to tackle in space than their size suggests. Secondly, the Golden Eagles' misdirection and option packages will test the discipline of Cougars true freshman SLB Phillip Steward, who is making just his third career start. Finally, Southern Miss can pull G's Micah Brown (6-2, 287) and Ryan Hebert (6-5, 310) around the corner and they are capable of engulfing Steward (203 pounds) and WLB C.J. Caveness (220).
