Bowling Green Offense vs. Tulsa Defense
The emergence of sophomore QB Tyler Sheehan, aggressive play calling and the play of versatile RB Anthony Turner has given Bowling Green a formidable offensive attack that puts up an average of 32.1 points per game. This does not bode well for a Tulsa 3-3-5 defense that's allowing 35.4 points per game. Let's start with Turner, who is a threat to run, pass and throw the ball. Head coach Gregg Brandon has done a nice job of making the most of Turner's abilities, as Turner has rushed for nine touchdowns, thrown for three and caught one. As a result, a Hurricane defense led by ILB Nelson Coleman must stay alert and disciplined. Further complicating matters, defensive backs Steve Craver and Charles Davis play big roles in run support in this scheme, so they are aggressive. If they are overaggressive and fill as soon as Turner gets the ball, it will create openings in the coverage that Turner is more than capable of exploiting.
