TCU Offense vs. Houston Defense
TCU QB Andy Dalton possesses an adequate blend of size, athletic ability and arm strength, but he doesn't always take care of the football. In fact, he's thrown 10 interceptions compared to 10 touchdowns and he threw four picks in one game this year. Meanwhile, redshirt sophomore RB Joseph Turner made great strides down the stretch and carried the ball 33 times for 226 yards and four touchdowns against San Diego State in the regular season finale. Keeping that in mind, expect the Horned Frogs to stay committed to the ground game and Turner should be productive enough to help keep Dalton out of a lot of situations with pass-heavy tendencies. Houston's two leading tacklers are DB Kenneth Fontennette and LB Rocky Schwartz. This is a clear indication that a Cougar run defense that is giving up an average of 3.9 yards per carry is making too many plays at the second level rather than at the line of scrimmage. And while RB Aaron Brown is expected to miss this game with an ankle injury, Turner is a big back who appears to get better with each carry. Don't look for him to wear down despite the lack of ideal depth.
