Mykel Traylor-Bennett is explosive

September, 13, 2011
Reynoldsburg junior Mykel Traylor-Bennett is a big play waiting to happen. Whether it's as a receiver or returner, he is expected to score at least one long touchdown every weekend.

Logan (Ohio) was able to contain Traylor-Bennett on the outside as a receiver, keeping him to just three catches for 47 yards. So Traylor-Bennett made his presence felt on punts, taking one back 48 yards for a touchdown after having a previous score on a return nullified because of a holding call. He took another punt back to the 5-yard line.

A week ago, he caught a 37-yard touchdown pass just seconds before the end of the first half. And in the season opener, Traylor-Bennett caught two long touchdowns and nearly had a third but stepped out inside the 5-yard line. In that game, Reynoldsburg's game plan was to just throw it up to Traylor-Bennett and let the 6-foot-3, 200-pound recruit either out run or out jump the opposing defensive backs. He did exactly that and finished with more than 200 receiving yards.
