The University of Michigan received its 16th verbal commitment for their 2012 recruiting class from three-star defensive end Tom Strobel (Mentor, Ohio/Mentor). Strobel, 6-feet-6 and 255 pounds, picked the Wolverines over Ohio State, Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan State and Nebraska. "First and foremost I picked Michigan because of their academics," Strobel said. "It's also close to home which is great for me and my family. I love the new staff. They know what they are doing to turn things around in Ann Arbor. Plus, I always felt at home there. You feel like family already. You feel the warmth and comfort with the coaches and players." While Strobel committed to Michigan on Friday, he knew long before then he would likely end up a Wolverine. And despite the issues at Ohio State, Strobel said that did not impact his decision to leave the state.
