PORTLAND, Ore. -- Quarterback Conner Preston (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra) threw touchdown passes to Anterio Bateman (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra) and Raymond Ford (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra), while Gardena's defense was too much to handle for Plant quarterback Phillip Ely (Tampa Bay, Fla./Plant Senior) in Gardena's 20-7 victory over Plant (Tampa, Fla.).
Plant took the first possession of the game and scored, but Gardena actually held a 14-7 lead at the half. In the second half, it was all about Gardena's secondary as Woodson Greer (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra) and Marqise Lee (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra) picked off Ely.
