Tight end Nick Vannett (Westerville, Ohio/Central) has committed to Ohio State over scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Oregon, Michigan State, Michigan, Iowa, Tennessee, Purdue, Pitt, Illinois, Minnesota, Indiana, South Florida, Arizona, West Virginia, Boston College and others. He narrowed his choices down to the Buckeyes, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech and Tennessee before announcing he will stay close to home and play for Jim Tressel. Vannett caught 20 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns during his junior season as Central finished with a 5-5 record. He is commitment No. 16 for an Ohio State recruiting class that is expected to number at least 22 come national signing day. The Buckeyes' class is ranked No. 5 in the country.
