Linebacker Armstead Williams (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) was impressive at the Nike Football Training Camp at Penn State on May 2. He showed pretty good speed, was able to stay with the running backs during the one-on-one drills and effectively dropped into coverage during the skeleton. The 6-foot-2, 198-pounder was a varsity starter at Blair High School in Pasadena, Calif., his sophomore year. After moving to Pennsylvania, Williams made 79 tackles including three sacks in his first season at Gateway. He also played tight end and caught 19 passes for over 400 yards and five touchdowns. "I got [a verbal] one from Wisconsin a few days ago," Williams said. "I got written offers from Purdue and Louisville."
