It's conference championship week; as a result, we're not far from bowl matchups being set (we'll know the BCS pairings Sunday night). If Oregon and Auburn win this weekend, we'll get a matchup in the BCS title game featuring two of the most dynamic offenses in the country (No. 1 and No. 7 nationally in scoring).
People would probably keep watching that game if it was 31-7 someone at halftime, given how both squads come back big in the second half regularly.
But what if either -- or both -- stumble this weekend when the Tigers face South Carolina and the Ducks visit archrival Oregon State? It may sound far-fetched -- but remember the mayhem of Championship Saturday in 2007.
My hunch is the teams in best position to slip into the title game would be the TCU Horned Frogs and then, well, the big mess gets really messy. It's possible that Auburn still could end up in the title game if the Tigers lose in, say, overtime.
