Picks: Sorry, Kirk Cousins, it ends here
I had a solid week last week going 12-8 against the line, putting me 11 over .500 for the season against the number. The good: picking Nebraska to handle Oklahoma State. The bad: picking WVU to thump Syracuse. The ugly: picking Texas to maul Iowa State.
A couple of housekeeping notes here: First, all game times listed below are ET. Second, in this blog every Thursday I pick Thursday and Friday night televised games and Saturday games involving teams ranked in the Top 25. Usually, I will jump in the comments on the blog and pick other games of interest to different fans who ask. If I had to pick every FBS game, this entry would get a bit long.
The 3:30 p.m. slotted games that are listed as "ABC Regional" can usually be found on ESPN2 in other areas. Check your local listings. If there's no TV network listed for a game below, also check local listings.
Here we go:
Thursday and Friday night games
Florida State Seminoles at North Carolina State Wolfpack
Thursday, 7:30 p.m. (ESPN)
The much-improved Noles' D, No. 1 in the country in sacks, will get a lot of heat on Russell Wilson. The Pack are just 85th in sacks allowed, but the NC State QB still should hit a few big plays on the young FSU secondary, but I'm going with the Noles, who have a big special teams edge here. FSU 19-14.
West Virginia Mountaineers at Connecticut Huskies
Friday, 8 p.m. (ESPN2)
The Huskies are really struggling, having just been shut out at Louisville and are on a two-game losing streak. Even though they're undefeated at home, WVU has by far the most skill talent they've seen come to town. I expect Geno Smith to respond well to last week's debacle against Syracuse. WVU 27-17.
