Picks: Arkansas-Auburn will be a shootout
I had a solid week last week, going 13-7 against the line, putting me nine over .500 for the season. The good: picking Nebraska to roll at K-State. The bad: Picking Auburn to have less trouble with Kentucky. The ugly: Picking Florida to handle LSU.
A couple of housekeeping notes here: First, all game times listed below are ET. Second, in this blog every Thursday I pick Thursday and Friday night televised games and Saturday games involving teams ranked in the Top 25. Usually, I will jump in the comments on the blog and pick other games of interest to different fans who ask. If I had to pick every FBS game, this entry would get a bit long.
The 3:30 p.m. slotted games that are listed as 'ABC Regional' can usually be found on ESPN2 in other areas. Check your local listings. If there's no TV network listed for a game below, also check local listings.
Here we go:
Thursday and Friday night games
South Florida Bulls at West Virginia Mountaineers
(Thursday, 7:30 p.m., ESPN)
Geno Smith bounced back from a tough game at LSU last week and was sharp working downfield. I expect more of the same. The Mountaineers' run defense has been solid this season (9th in the country) and should be able to keep B.J. Daniels from running wild. WVU 31-17.
Cincinnati Bearcats at Louisville Cardinals
(Friday, 8 p.m., ESPN)
Charlie Strong's team cruised past two weaker teams in Memphis and Arkansas State. I suspect Butch Jones' offense will be more of a problem for the Cards. Still, U of L is third in the nation in sacks, while UC is 118th in sacks allowed. Despite being tempted to go with the Bearcats, I'll pick the home team. UL 24-21.
