This is all about to get very real

We're at the midway point of the college football season. The Alabama Crimson Tide have fallen, the Ohio State Buckeyes are No. 1, the situation with the Boise State Broncos looms large, and things seem a little more chaotic than normal coming off Saturday's games. Headed into Week 7, here are the key storylines.

Poll Positioning

The first BCS will come out this week, but in the mock BCS standings that have been coming out, Boise State could be No. 1 ... and Ohio State could fall to No. 5.

It's overreaction to a formula that still needs time to shake out. If you're outraged by the possibility that the Broncos could be No. 1, keep in mind that they've already played -- and beaten -- their two most significant opponents (Virginia Tech Hokies, Oregon State Beavers). BSU's BCS merits will take a sizeable hit after this week's game against 1-5 San Jose State and then the following game against 2-4 La. Tech.
