In my chat last week, I was asked what winning a BCS title might do for a non-BCS school (think Boise State or a comparable program).
It's a fascinating question and obviously one that gained some depth after Butler almost won the NCAA basketball title this past Monday night. It's impossible to say exactly what winning the BCS would mean because there are so many layers of impact. I broached the topic this week with two guys who have unique perspectives on this -- FAU coach Howard Schnellenberger, a guy who won a national title at a longtime have-not program in the early '80s (Miami) and who knows as much about fundraising as perhaps any coach in the business and Houston's Kevin Sumlin, a rising star in the coaching world and a man who grew up in Indianapolis, the hometown of Butler.
Interesting topic. Lots of news and notes after the jump, too. Wanna get into it? You can -- if you're an Insider.
