Lane Kiffin has been gone for a few weeks now, but things keep getting more fascinating around Knoxville as Tennessee's recruiting has remained one of the biggest storylines heading into Wednesday's signing day. The Vols, who have already locked up two outstanding WR prospects (early enrollees Matt Milton and Ted Meline) and have a commitment from another (Justin Hunter), are in the hunt for two other very big fish, Da'Rick Rogers and Markeith Ambles.

As I've written earlier, both Georgia receivers have plenty of drama in their recruitment -- and this weekend things certainly didn't die down. In fact, both made it to Knoxville despite less than ideal conditions. Both players' recruiting stories are old-fashioned recruiting circuses, but with modern-day technological spins to them -- which mean they are just that much more bizarre and screwy.

Wes Rucker writes that Rogers (the No. 30 overall prospect in the country) actually has been at UT on consecutive weeks. The first weekend, he went on his official visit, and this past weekend, he came to Knoxville with his best friend, UT commit Nash Nance, to see the Volunteers' basketball team beat Florida. The teammates arrived in snowy Knoxville late Saturday night with Nance's father, and they stayed until Sunday night:

Rogers, rated one of the nation's top overall prospects by every major recruiting service, will officially announce his college choice on Wednesday's national signing day with a press conference at CHS.

Rogers also got a lot of folks on message boards and social networking sites talking -- when they saw that he updated his Facebook with a picture of him kissing the Vols' 1998 BCS national title crystal ball trophy, prompting reactions such as:

come on Darick pick Georgia! do u really think Tennessee is in better shape to win a National Championship than Georgia is in the next 4 years?? Tennessee is a big orange mess by what Kiffin did and Georgia has a new defensive coordinator, another top 5 recruiting class, and 2 good young QB's that are gunna battle it o...ut for that starting job. If you come to Georgia you can learn from A.J. Green and become a top star when he leaves for the NFL! come on man pick Georgia!

So -- what is the latest on Da'Rick Rogers and Markeith Ambles? How about Seantrel? Hmmm ... Feldman did write a book called "Meat Market." Dude knows a lot about recruiting. Has a lot of contacts. So maybe there's some intel here. Maybe there's something you could use. Insider: It'll make you smarter and more valuable. Dive in. (Hey, not to mention Kiper and McShay ... )
