Time to make some picks

I'm coming off a decent week in which I was three over .500 against the line -- that puts me at .500 for the season against the number. The good: picking Stanford to handle Washington. The bad: picking Cal to cruise over Oregon. The ugly: picking FSU to thump USF. Here are this week's guesses:

Colorado Buffaloes at West Virginia Mountaineers (Thursday, 7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN)

WVU has had more than enough time to stew over the disappointing loss to Auburn, and it should be a rocking home atmosphere. CU is No. 103 nationally against the rush, which should translate into a bunch of big runs for the Mountaineers as the country gets a reminder of how spectacular Noel Devine can be. The pick is West Virginia 41, Colorado 17.

Pittsburgh Panthers at Louisville Cardinals (Friday, 8 p.m. ET, ESPN2)

It'll be intriguing to see whether the Panthers can bounce back from their loss to NC State. Pitt should get plenty of heat on QB Justin Burke, since U of L is 85th in sacks allowed and Pitt is fourth in sacks. Expect a big night for the Panthers' standout DE tandem of Greg Romeus and Jabaal Sheard. The pick is Pittsburgh 24, Louisville 14.

To see the remainder of Bruce's picks -- yes, he has another top-5 team falling this week -- you must be an ESPN Insider. Plus, a deeper look at Houston head man Kevin Sumlin's Twitter usage. Insider
