The news about former Virginia Tech great Michael Vick being conditionally reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday got me thinking about how different things are around college football since 1999, the year the Hokies redshirt freshman was the breakout star in sports. (For one thing, a decade later, Va. Tech is a legitimate college football powerhouse.)
