From Jessica in Miami: I was hoping we could've lured Jimmy Johnson back but I'm glad the Canes finally picked a head coach. Do you really think [Randy] Shannon can get the players fired up?
Bruce Feldman: As I stated last night, I think Randy Shannon might be the ideal person to take over the Miami program right now, and after seeing some of his press conference, I'm more convinced of that than ever. A few years back, Palm Beach Post writer and ESPN.com contributor Jorge Milian did a terrific piece about Shannon, and one of the things that you got from it is an understanding of why he is uniquely qualified to reach some kids: "Anything they've been through, I've been through," said Shannon, then 38. "A lot of them have problems at home, and I had a lot of problems growing up."
