The only thing standing between athlete Jordan Lucas (New Rochelle, N.Y./Worcester Academy) and a handful of Division I scholarship offers were his grades. At least that's what one college assistant coach said earlier this week. The list of schools that showed interest in Lucas during his senior year in high school is a lengthy one. "Rutgers, UConn, BC, Penn State, Stony Brook, New Hampshire, Villanova, Temple, Towson, Maryland before Edsall [first-year coach Randy Esall], Syracuse and Western Michigan," Lucas recalled. "I didn't get any offers because I just couldn't qualify."
