Linebacker Tim Joy (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) has been a lifelong Boston College fan, so he was filled with nervous energy last month when the BC coaches told him a decision about a scholarship offer would be made after they took a look at him during their camp. When Joy arrived, the BC staff saw more than it expected. He had gained 20 pounds of good weight since basketball season ended and was measured at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds. Joy was offered a scholarship -- and quickly accepted -- even though he suffered a hamstring injury during his only day at camp and was unable to participate in the showcase portion of the event. "One of the biggest things they said is how much I've improved at everything since last year [at BC's camp]," Joy said before he helped his Chelmsford team win the Northeast 7v7 Tournament on Saturday. "I ran a 4.9 40 at BC last year, and then I ran a 4.7 in the rain this year even with the added weight."
