Tyler Matakevich to miss part of season

Senior Tyler Matakevich (Trumbull, Conn./St. Joseph's), one of the best players in Connecticut, was injured during a scrimmage Saturday and may miss a significant portion of the 2010 season. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound tailback/linebacker, suffered a broken bone in his right foot during the scrimmage against Shelton. He is expected to know the full extent of the injury Tuesday. Matakevich rushed for a school record 1,542 yards and 20 touchdowns last season. He also caught 41 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns. He established another school record by scoring five touchdowns in a victory over Trumbull on Thanksgiving.
