UCLA picked up a commitment from one of the fastest players in the state as defensive back Shannon Edwards (Bakersfield, Calif./Ridgeview) announced for the Bruins. Edwards attended the Bruins skills camp over the weekend and clocked a 4.39-40, one of the fastest in the camp. After a strong showing in the one-on-ones, he was offered a scholarship following the event. "Coach [Inoke] Breckterfield has been recruiting me for a little bit and on Monday, he Facebooked me and told me to call coach [Rick] Neuheisel. I had a feeling it was going to be an offer but I was still really excited when I talked to him. I actually thought about committing right there but I wanted to talk it over with my parents.
