Academics played role for Amir Carlisle

USC pulled a major coup landing talented running back Amir Carlisle (Sunnyvale, Calif./The King's Academy), but football wasn't the only reason the Under Armour All-American made the switch. When Carlisle originally committed to the Cardinal the summer following his sophomore year, he became the earliest player to ever commit to Stanford. With just a few weeks left before signing day, the Cardinal weren't able to hold on and Carlisle committed during an unofficial visit on Saturday. "Amir really felt Stanford was the best fit for him athletically, academically, spiritually and every way you can think of," Carlisle's father Duane said. "When he committed to Stanford, he always said there were two schools he would open things up for, USC and Notre Dame.
