It was a big weekend for Oregon last week and from a recruiting standpoint, the Ducks could be on the verge of landing their best class ever. The Ducks tripped in a handful of players over the weekend and picked up a commitment from Jared Elbert (Council Bluffs, Iowa,/Iowa Western JC), one of the top defensive tackles in the JUCO ranks. The bigger news is the Ducks made up a lot of ground on two other big-time players who were previously leaning elsewhere following their visits. Although a soft commit to Washington, Cal actually seemed like the team to beat for running back Brendon Bigelow (Fresno, Calif./Central). After visiting Eugene last weekend, the buzz from talking to some of the coaches at Central is the Ducks are now the team to beat and have a great chance to land not only Bigelow but teammate and standout receiver B.J. Kelley as well.
