USC has been very active the past few weeks in offering scholarships, many to players from its own backyard in Southern California. The latest player to receive an offer was athlete Corey Waller (Long Beach Poly, Calif./L.B. Polytechnic). He is a talented defensive end/linebacker and said he was hopeful the Trojans would offer, but was still surprised when it came down. "Man, I didn't know it was coming this week," Waller said. "Coach [Kennedy] Pola called me up and said the coaches just watched film of my first game and liked what they saw. They always said they were waiting to see my senior film and once they did, they would offer and that's just what happened.
