Running back Kelsey Young (Norco, Calif./Norco Senior) showed last Friday why he should be mentioned among the top backs in the region with his spectacular performance against Crenshaw (Los Angeles, Calif.). The Stanford commit rushed for 297 yards on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns on runs of 70, 73 and 37 yards. The 37-yard burst put the Cougars ahead for good. "My hip was a little sore coming in to the game, but I knew I couldn't give up on my team," Young said. "I prayed about it all week and God healed me and I was able to get out there and play. Our line blocked great for me and once I got in the open field, I was able to take it the distance." Young is one of the most explosive players in the state of California and has the kind of speed where he's a threat to score from anywhere on the field. His 70- and 73-yard touchdown runs came on his first and third carry of the game, where he blew past the entire Crenshaw secondary, which is easily among the fastest in the state.
