With scholarship offers from most of the Pac-10, Richards decided to stay in-state to play his college ball. He is a two-way standout and could play on either side of the ball in college. As a junior, he rushed for 492 yards on 78 carries and nine touchdowns, caught 53 balls for 883 yards and nine more scores. He added 55 tackles and four picks on defense. "I committed to Stanford," Richards said. "I actually committed about a week ago, but I wanted to make sure I was cleared through admissions before I said anything public about it.
