CBB Summer Buzz: Butler
The Bulldogs have many holes to fill before trying to make another trip to the Final Four
Insider knows you're hot for hoops during the summer, so we're bringing you a closer look at a few of the big-profile schools before most freshmen have even moved into their dorms. We continue with Butler.
Butler Bulldogs
2010-11: 23-9 (NCAA tournament -- national runner-up)
Ask Brad Stevens how he plans to replace 63 percent of Butler's points and the coach replies he doesn't know yet.
Before you attribute the response to simple coachspeak, understand that Stevens really does not know how he will replace Matt Howard, Shelvin Mack, Shawn Vanzant and Zach Hahn.
All four were upperclassmen, and all were key elements of Butler's four straight NCAA tournament appearances. However, Stevens is not fretting. He's faced a more daunting situation before.
"Three years ago [2007-08], we had more departures. We have never had a statistical loss that great," says Stevens, referencing the expired eligibilities of A.J. Graves, Pete Campbell and Mike Green. "The guys we lost last year have been incredible, and we are going to have to play completely different."
One thing Stevens already knows: Butler will be very young.
