It's good to be a basketball program in Tennessee.

Recently, the thought of the Memphis Tigers ascending to the top spot in ESPN.com's 2010 recruiting class rankings seemed unlikely, if not impossible. Coach Josh Pastner, however, is proving to be a tireless recruiter. His efforts paid off with the signings of Jelan Kendrick and Tarik Black. Memphis' haul has talent. Just as importantly, it meets needs, which is another key to having a top-notch recruiting class.

The Vols weren't even in the top 25 classes heading into the last day of the early signing period, but a strong finish -- including landing PF Tobias Harris minutes before the deadline -- moved Bruce Pearl's Vols to No. 8 in the rankings.

While that's all the movement for the early signing period, there will be major shifts in the coming months when elite prospects such as Brandon Knight, Josh Selby and C.J. Leslie make their decisions.
