Team preview: Stetson
Blue Ribbon Yearbook previews the 2005-06 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
(Information in this team report is as of October 1.)
For Stetson the great expectations that swirled around the team as last year began, faded away as the Hatters failed to qualify for the Atlantic Sun Tournament. Sitting at 7-5 in conference play going into the month of February, Stetson hit a wall and went 1-6 the rest of the way to miss out on the tournament.
That's not to say the 2004-05 season was a total wash. The season was highlighted by a December win over Georgia on the road and included great play by a highly touted backcourt that performed as advertised.
As a result, coach Derek Waugh and his staff have plenty of positives to take into this year. The backcourt that played so well last year is back and hungry to do something about the disappointing finish of a year ago.
