A year after East Tennessee State coasted through the Southern Conference regular-season schedule with a 15-1 record and captured its second straight conference tournament title, the Buccaneers struggled mightily.

A year after East Tennessee State coasted through the Southern Conference regular-season schedule with a 15-1 record and captured its second straight conference tournament title, the Buccaneers struggled mightily.
An early injury to Brad Nuckles (7.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg), a 6-9 center the Bucs were relying on heavily, set off a chain of misfortune that made their last year in the Southern Conference a forgettable one.
So this season is one of new beginnings, as ETSU joins the Atlantic Sun Conference and tries to make last year's lost season a distant memory. On paper, the Bucs seem to have the players to do just that.
