Nine wins. An RPI rating of 182. Last place in the Big 12.
That was the state of Texas Tech men's basketball on March 23, 2001, the day Robert Montgomery Knight accepted the head coach's job.
Four years to the day later, Knight was coaching the Red Raiders in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. And while they lost that day, 65-60, to West Virginia, it takes nothing away from the remarkable turnaround.
