After last season, during which the promise of the Buzz Peterson era had been all but exterminated, some Tennessee fans wondered whether new athletic director Mike Hamilton cared enough about basketball and/or had enough guts to take drastic action to revive the program's sinking fortunes.

Turns out he did.
