Team preview: UC Riverside
Blue Ribbon Illustrated previews the 2005-06 college basketball season, exclusively on Insider.
(Information in this team report is as of October 1.)
Before he even begins his first practice at UC Riverside, there is a little detail David Spencer needs to check out.
The Highlanders' new head coach will wander over to the Student Recreation Center to see if the scoreboards have three digits.
If all goes according to his plan, they'll need every one of them.
"Do they have three digits? I absolutely hope so,'' Spencer said. "I don't know if they have a third digit or if it's like the old days and it goes back to 00. I might need to get a little help with that, even if I have to get a guy up there to hang up a card with a '1'. We'll pull it up there with a rope, or something. Whatever it takes.''
