After dropping from 14 to 12 then 10 victories during his first three seasons, John Pelphrey wouldn't seem to have much job security. But it looks like he has a lot of security guards.
Pelphrey's fourth season in Mobile eagerly welcomes the addition of 6-4 transfers Chey Christie (Clemson) and Demetric Bennett (SMU) in the backcourt. Christie was a three-year starter on the wing at Clemson, but left one year after former coach Larry Shyatt did. Shyatt is now an assistant with Pelphrey's old boss, Florida coach Billy Donovan.
As a sophomore in Shyatt's final season at Clemson, Christie averaged 11.5 points. He scored 25 points in a game that year against Georgia Tech.
