Team preview: Norfolk State

It's not often a program can graduate a league player of the year and be better, but that could be the case at Norfolk State this year.
The Spartans had the MEAC Player of the Year last season in guard Chakowby Hicks, who averaged 14.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game to become the first Norfolk State player to win the prestigious award.
And last year wasn't a bad season for NSU. The Spartans tied for fourth and had a solid 11-7 league mark. Since coach Dwight Freeman came aboard three years ago, NSU has improved in the league standings by one spot each year.
