Like a proud parent looking back at his kids' achievements through the years, Billy Lange looks back at his first season as head coach at Navy and realizes his club had some shining moments.
The Midshipmen toppled eventual league tournament champion Bucknell in Annapolis, took down Lehigh on the road, lost by just two to regular-season champ Holy Cross, and took American to overtime before bowing out in the Patriot League Tournament.
But the Midshipmen still finished below the .500 mark and suffered some difficult losses. That's left Lange short of satisfied.
"The first thing we're going to do is judge ourselves by our progression of how we're doing in our league," Lange said. "I have a vision here, but before we can give our team any expectations, we have to judge how we're doing in the league.
"I'm looking for more competitiveness in our league."
