There's only one way for the Maryland-Eastern Shore program to go after a two-way season that left the Fighting Hawks just one notch above the bottom of the RPI.

First-year coach Larry Lessett suffered through that dismal season but is determined to make this year better. He and his staff brought in eight new players and think a few of them can make the Hawks a lot better immediately.

"I'm cautiously optimistic," Lessett said. "We made great strides last year. It didn't show on the win-loss side of things but we made progress. We hope to make even more progress this season."
